About the Service
BT Lancashire Services offers schools access to a range of online interactive educational classroom resources, including specially discounted rates for subscriptions to Discovery Education services. Services include Discovery Education Espresso and Discovery Education Coding. Discovery Education partners with like-minded organisations to captivate pupils, empower teachers, and transform classrooms with customised solutions that increase academic achievement.
Discovery Education Espresso is a cross-curricular learning service for teachers and pupils covering Foundation to Key Stage 2. Containing over 23,000 digital resources, including short videos, interactive games, printable worksheets and more, Espresso supports delivery of the National Curriculum with its easy-to-use, knowledge-rich resources that bring learning to life. Resources are grouped into thematic collections supporting specific curriculum topics with the option to also search by subject or curriculum objective.
Espresso News produced in collaboration with ITN Productions and included as part of your Espresso subscription, provides teachers with safe, age-appropriate resources to educate their pupils on what's happening in the world using real events and video footage to create memorable and engaging lessons. It is the only daily updated online news resource dedicated to making current affairs accessible for primary school children.
With Discovery Education Coding, pupils will gain a secure understanding of coding concepts like algorithms, sequences and variables - as well as developing computational thinking skills through decomposition, logical reasoning and problem-solving.
Explanatory videos help make complex concepts simple and provide visual illustrations and examples of what pupils need to achieve in each lesson. Over 100 lesson plans also provide everything you need for your coding lesson including a quick overview, learning objectives, success criteria, vocabulary and key questions to ask pupils.
And, best of all, pupils and teachers alike will be able to demonstrate their creativity by creating their own apps and sharing them with their classmates and colleagues.
