Online Protection (Netsweeper onGuard+)
About the Service
Our Online Protection service provides a monitoring and alerting service to help school staff safeguard pupils when learning online.
The service is delivered using Netsweeper onGuard+, which works in conjunction with our Web Filtering service (Netsweeper). Both services are inclusive within our Broadband and Online Service subscriptions.
The service provides the following functionality:
- An optional online safeguarding tool to provide monitoring and alerting service (Netsweeper onGuard+) for safeguarding leads
- Netsweeper onGuard provides cloud-based monitoring software to identify and categorise potential safeguarding incidents. The software record details of these for review by your school's safeguarding lead
- The service includes Netsweeper onGuard+ Monitoring. This combines automated system alerts with a team of moderators to prioritise incidents based on defined criteria and safety policies. Safeguarding incidents captured by the software are categorised and flagged based on escalation protocols, before being transferred to the onGuard+ moderation team to assess and determine the proper response. If deemed appropriate, potential actions can include notifying school contacts or engaging public emergency services
- In addition, our service includes Netsweeper Alert Validation. This process can help with the review of false positive incidents. The classification of safeguarding events is reviewed, so that events classified as less serious by the categorisation engine, are still reviewed by the onGuard+ moderators and manually escalated if required

- This service helps school staff meet the DfE recommendations for safeguarding pupils online
- It helps your school meet the online learning safeguarding requirements of 'Keeping children safe in education (KCSIE)', by monitoring the contents of pupils' screens and alerting your school safeguarding lead when a matter of concern is identified
- As an optional add-on to our Broadband and Online services subscription, Netsweeper onGuard can help schools with student online safeguarding, by proactively monitoring student activities and providing real-time alerting to the safeguarding lead in school for when intervention by staff is required
- Assists schools in fulfilling their safeguarding duties by providing monitoring, alerting and reports
- Includes added benefits of access to Netsweeper's alert verification and moderation team
- Netsweeper onGuard+ is a monitoring and alerting service intended to be used as a tool by your safeguarding team at your school. It is not designed to replace or take responsibility for your school's online safeguarding processes, but can provide a valuable tool to assist your staff in identifying potential incidents
