SIMS Finance 6 (FMS) Equipment Register (Asset Management)

Who is this course for?

This half day course is for staff with responsibility for recording equipment details (fixed assets) that need to be recorded for insurance purposes, as per the Schools Financial Value Standards (SFVS). 

It is not essential to have a basic understanding of FMS functionality but this may be beneficial. 

Aims

To become familiar with the day-to-day running of SIMS Equipment Register and to enable schools to be compliant with the requirements in the SFVS.

Objectives

At the end of the course participants will be able to: 

  • Set up Equipment Register including users and system parameters
  • Populate the register via Excel, FMS or manual entry
  • Locate and relocate equipment
  • Set up and running equipment inspections and stock takes
  • Record the disposal of equipment
  • Analyse the equipment using the various reports available
